Is this the King of the South?
Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman
Mohammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud (Arabic: محمد بن سلمان بن عبدالعزيز آل سعود; born 31 August 1985), also known as MBS, is the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, also serving as First Deputy Prime Minister, President of the Council for Economic and Development Affairs and Minister of Defense—the world’s youngest office holder at the time. He has been described as the power behind the throne of his father, King Salman. He was appointed Crown Prince in June 2017 following his father’s decision to remove Muhammad bin Nayef from all positions, making Mohammad bin Salman heir apparent to the throne. He has been accused of risking instability in the Middle East through his detention of human rights activists, intervention in Yemen, escalation of Saudi’s diplomatic crisis with Qatar and the start of the diplomatic crisis with Lebanon, as well as his arrests of members of the Saudi royal family in November 2017. His proposed Saudi 2030 vision includes economic, social and religious changes, and plans to list shares of the coveted, state-owned oil company Aramco.
The video on the left could just as easily been captioned “Lifestyles of the Rich & Famous”. This is a quick look at the lifestyle of a young lion rising in the middle east.
Technically Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salmon is not a “king”, but rather the heir apparent. His father is the King of Saudi Arabia. Even without the title of “King”, he is a man of power in the middle east.
Another young lion rising to power recently in this region is Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani (Arabic: تميم بن حمد آل ثاني; born 3 June 1980) is the eighth and current Emir of Qatar. He is the fourth son of the previous Emir, Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani. He became Emir of Qatar on 25 June 2013 after his father’s abdication. Tamim has held a variety of government posts within Qatar and also worked to promote numerous sporting events within the country. As of 2013, Tamim is the youngest reigning monarch among the GCC countries and the youngest current sovereign worldwide.
